Sorry for the long pause in updates (like one week). We have been busy trying to get a "latest search" function up and running and I'm proud to say it is almost done we are just caching some final results before we bring it live.
In other news our ranking for the term "compare textbook prices" we dropped from page 2 at the top to page 5. Although we are growing like crazy we lost rank, so we are in the process of trying to figure this one out.
This week we are still trying to get the about us page up, but with advertising hell week being this week we might have a little bit of trouble.

No updates yet
We've been hard at work for advertising for this upcoming semester, we have an about us written out but kinda want to format it before it's all setup.
In the meanwhile how has everyone elses textbook buying season faired up?

Minecraft - Sunday Randomness
Here at Textbookly we are not just a business (we'll attitude wise), we are a group of nerdy college students with way to many side projects. Our team works hard and plays games, that's pretty much all we do.
Recently we picked up an awesome game, Minecraft. Our team discovered this Alpha title a few weeks ago and have had a hard time putting it down since.
What is Minecraft?
-Minecraft is awesomeness incarnate. In short Minecraft is a Zombie/Creature Survival // Builder // Mining // Crafting piece of art. It's coded in Java and can run on all big time operating systems also.
-Basically in Minecraft you start out with nothing, in the middle of a randomly generated expanding map and build your way up. During the night creepers/zombies/skeletons/spiders come out and attack, so building a shelter is advised.
-Everything in the game is breakable and building isn't limited, so you could build your fortress anywhere.
About Crafting
-This is a place Minecraft shines, you begin with a 2 x 2 crafting square and will need to build a crafting station that gives you 3 x 3.
-Basically all crafting items have schematics and ways you have to setup the goods that you have mined (or the wood you've got from cutting down trees, or food that you have farmed, etc) in order to create new objects. For instance you might need to build a torch for underground/lighting up a room. You have to put coal above a stick and that will give you a torch.
-You can build minecarts, structural items, sticks, pickaxes, axes, swords, armor, and more. (Notice I tried to use the most vague because the list is stupid long.)
Multiplayer
-Yes there is multiplayer, however you are limited to the Alpha Zombie Survival server or the free-to-play build server. And the Zombie Survival Server is lacking most of its features right now, but the features are coming quick. I can't wait honestly, building a fort with friends to horde off the zombies at night while one guy runs down the mines and gets items to craft so we can fortify and make the fort tougher. Or go out during the night with friends and raid other players for all their goods.
So whats the price?
-The game is currently €9.95 I can't fully remember but I'm pretty sure that is about $13.00 US (This price will double at the beginning of Beta.
-Is it worth it? Yes! I played the free build server for awhile before I bought it but I can assure you it's worth your 13$.

-Ill take some soon!
If anyone plays or has an opinion or suggestion on a game we should try leave a comment!

Textbookly Updates (Month August/10)
This month is going to be busy, August as any student will know is the month school begins again (Say goodbye to summer, it went too fast this time around). But don't fear the upcoming semesters because Textbookly is here to save you money! (Too bad we can't really help you in school though).
Here is our primary agenda listed in importance.
1.) Market to students, we need to get out there and help students before they overpay for books.
2.) Create a locking system for the autocomplete search, we are fully aware it loads weird right now. This is a pretty large task but I'm sure our team can handle it.
3.) Get up more pages, Textbookly.com is pretty bare bones right now, we need a better contact us and in general an about us page so those will be up soon.
4.) We are looking for students to market the Textbookly system for pretty high commissions, if your interested send an application to applications@textbookly.com
5.) Minor graphical changes aimed to help usability.
As the usual if you have any suggestions leave a comment!

Textbookly Updates (Week of 8/9/2010)
Our team has decided from now on to keep a blog for updates and other items of interest, if you are new to Textbookly in short we are a textbook price comparison webpage that aims to save students money on their textbook purchases.
Here is this weeks upcoming agenda.
1.) Post blog links on the website.
2.) Get up an about us page.
3.) Prepare for the upcoming semester.
4.) Make a contact us box, we currently just have an email setup on a mailto: link (While effective, we could awesome this up more).
If anyone has any other feature ideas leave a comment!
